Coming from Cuba at an early age and growing up in a small, suburban city in North Florida, I was always different than those around me. With different customs and traditions, different rules, and different pressures than of those of my peers, my biggest journey has been finding a sense of belonging. At age 15, enrolled in my first photography class by chance, I found a spark that would soon be my voice of expression.
Although I found my passion early in my life, pursuing photography as a career was not exactly as socially acceptable as being a doctor or engineer. To make my family proud, I went to school and studied to become a dentist, but there was no denying that calling inside of me. When COVID hit the world by storm, I took the opportunity to find my passion again and quickly confirmed where I belong.
Now, after 10 years of experience, I have found the beauty of life behind the lens. Not only can I capture the emotions of my subject, or a moment in time, but I can express an emotion of my choosing based on the shot itself. Playing with elements of light and color primarily through portraiture inspires me to share how I view the world. Call me Lili, and come join me on my journey of visions captured.
